To those who maintain that the apostolic gift-signs, speaking in tongues, miraculous healings, and prophetic utterances, continue in the church today, I extend this challenge with both respect and conviction.

I do not question your sincerity, nor do I doubt that many of you have experienced what you interpret as manifestations of these gifts. I acknowledge that godly, Bible-believing Christians stand on both sides of this debate, and that this discussion touches on matters of deep personal significance.

However, sincerity of belief does not settle questions of biblical truth. The issue before us is not whether modern charismatic experiences are genuine or heartfelt, but whether they represent a continuation of the specific apostolic gift-signs described in the New Testament.

I contend they do not, and I challenge you to demonstrate otherwise through careful exegesis and theological reasoning.

This is not a dismissal of your position, but an invitation to rigorous engagement. If the apostolic gifts truly continue, you should be able to provide compelling biblical warrant for that claim, address the substantial cessationist arguments, and explain the discontinuities between apostolic-era manifestations and contemporary practices.

The stakes are high: we’re discussing the nature of God’s revelation, the sufficiency of Scripture, and the proper expectations for church life. Let us reason together from the text.
